Retired Brigadier General Judy Griego
Griego served as the New Mexico Air National Guard Director of the Joint Staff with over 36 years of service. In 2011, she was the first female promoted to Brigadier General in the New Mexico National Guard.


Major Antoinette Baca
Baca served in the New Mexico Army National Guard as the Assistant Adjutant General. She is credited as the first female commissioned officer in the New Mexico National Guard in 1921, 35 years before the formal recognition of women’s service.
1st New Mexico Cavalry
Organized May 31, 1862, by consolidation of the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Regiments of New Mexico Infantry. The 1st Cavalry fought in New Mexico and Arizona and was one of the founding units of the NMNG.


188th Tactical Fighter Squadron
The 188th Fighter Bomber Squadron was federally recognized in July of 1947, as the inaugural unit in the New Mexico Air National Guard. The Airmen of the 188th were the only New Mexico National Guard unit to deploy to Vietnam as the 188th Tactical Fighter Squadron.
